The Daffodil Campaign

Daffodil Campaign

It’s that time of year again… the Daffodil Campaign is back! The Daffodil Campaign is an annual event that Kelly’s has been hosting for the past few years. We supply Daffodils for your purchase and the funds raised from this campaign go in support of the Perth and Smiths Falls District Hospital’s Chemotherapy needs.

Daffodil pots are $15.00 each and will be available while supplies last. Pick-ups will begin on Wednesday, April 3, 2024. To order your daffodils online, please visit: Daffodil Campaign 2024 – Kelly’s Flowers & Gift Boutique (kellysflowers.ca). You can also place your orders by giving us a call at 613-267-7065. Alternatively, you can stop into the shop and order in person during our operating hours.

Thank you for helping us support this amazing service that the Perth and Smiths Falls District Hospital provides for our community.

Shamrocks – Care Tips

Shamrocks are a symbol of the Irish holiday, St. Patrick’s Day. It is said that the three leaves of a Shamrock represent, faith, hope and love. Finding a fourth leaf is considered to be very lucky.

Shamrocks have a shallow root system and prefer a slightly moist, well-drained soil. If their leaves become wilted or droopy, you will need to increase the amount of watering. They tend to perform best if kept “pot-bound” because of their shallow root system. Bright, indirect sunlight will keep your Shamrock blooming all winter.

We will have lots of Shamrocks this month, to help you celebrate the St. Patrick’s holiday.

Kelly’s is Moving

Kelly's is Moving

Have you heard? The secret is out!!

We are moving!!

But don’t worry. We aren’t going far. In fact, we are heading back to 63 Gore Street, our old stomping grounds.

We have been working on this move since 2020, and we couldn’t be happier to share the news with all of you. Kelly’s Flowers has quite the history. The business was founded by Terry & Delta O’Hara at61 Gore Street, in the old Sheriff’s House. The business was then sold to Peggy & Brian Paul.

The Pauls sold Kelly’s to Cathy McCabe in 2002. Then in 2007, Kelly’s moved from 61 Gore Street to 63 Gore Street in the Thomas Wright building. In 2011, Cathy sold the business to Pascale Mapleston. Pascal decided to move Kelly’s to the Code’s Mill building in 2014. That same year, Krista bought Kelly’s Flowers from Pascal. Kelly’s has been in the Code’s Mill building ever since, that is, until this year. Krista & Mike got the opportunity to purchase the Thomas Wright building from Cathy Hay, in 2024. Which will now be the new home of Kelly’s Flowers (again 😉 )We have been asked a few questions about the move, such as, Why? & When? So let’s clear the air a little.WHY are we moving?

Well, thanks to all of our loyal customers, old and new, we have outgrown our space. Krista always dreamed of having a storefront back on Gore, the heart and soul of Perth.

And that brings us to WHEN? We are currently in the process of doing some renovations to accommodate our current needs. This means, a totally new layout, more design space, a bigger cooler, and of course, fresh paint, etc… With that in mind, we are keeping our fingers crossed and aiming to move by Summer 2024.

It’s all a process that takes time. We are sure there are other questions you’d like answered. We promise to answer all your questions and keep you informed along the way. We also have been digging into the history of63 Gore so, join our newsletter to stay up to date, and be sure to follow us on our socials.

Roses; Beautiful and Timeless

Roses

Have you ever wondered why the rose is such a popular Valentine’s Day flower? As it turns out, there are many reasons why the rose is a popular choice come February 14th.

Our favorite reason dates back to the Victorian era when flowers were used to send messages to love interests; a form of communication called, floriography. Roses symbolize love all on their own, however, the colour you choose communicates different meanings. Of course, we all know red roses represent passion. Take a look at what other colours represent; pink stands for appreciation and grace, yellow conveys friendship and happiness, and white implies innocence. Whatever you’re trying to communicate this Valentine’s Day, the rose remains the most timeless choice.

Valentine’s Day is Coming Up!

Valentine's Day Flowers

Of course, we have to remind you that Valentine’s Day is right around the corner.; Wednesday, February 14th,(in case you’ve forgotten). If you are looking to impress your loved one, we can help with that. We always have the best selection of roses and many other varieties of fresh flowers to signify and represent your love for that special someone.

Reflections of 2023 and What’s in store for 2024

Kelly's Flowers Team

Wow! There are really no words to describe how incredible 2023 was at Kelly’s.

It was a year of creativity on the flower side of the shop, creating gorgeous wedding arrangements; flowers to commemorate special occasions, and beautiful bouquets, just because!

The shop was filled with incredible gifts and home décor! Krista really searched far and wide in 2023 to find some incredible pieces for your homes and unique gifts to give.

Krista will be hitting the road in January 2024 to search for more incredible gift and décor items for the store. As always, we can’t wait to share with you everything that Krista finds.

It was a year of workshops, Open Houses (online and in-person), incredible events in the downtown, and anniversaries; as we celebrated Krista’s 25 anniversary at Kelly’s!

There is so much in store for 2024 that you really won’t believe it until you see it!

In between newsletters, we’ll be keeping you up-to-date on everything happening at the shop through our social media accounts.
